![]() The high schools and middle schools will be released at 11:30 a.m. and elementary schools at 12:30 p.m. The following Wednesdays will be early release days: September 30, October 28, December 2, February 24, March 31, and April 28. On the Wednesdays that are early release the high school would not have a late start. 4K classes will not meet on these dates. The following procedures would be used to care for students whose parents could not arrange for care on the early release days. Parents would be responsible for pick up. Buses will only run on the early dismissal schedule that we currently use for early dismissal at Winter Break and End-of-the-School Year which is 11:30 a.m. for middle and high schools and 12:30 p.m. for elementary schools. The elementary and middle schools will offer child care services for free until the regular school dismissal time and if students need to remain past that time the charge will be $8.50 per day which is our current drop-in fee for after school day care. The day care coordinator has assured us that she would be able to staff the schools for extended day care. The teaching assistants would also be assigned to supervise the students who remain on campus during the regular school day. Assistants could be assigned to another school depending upon the number of students staying and the number of assistance available. The local day care providers will be contacted to let them know the dates and hopefully they would make arrangements to pick up their regular clients earlier. The athletics, band, cheerleaders, etc. that would normally have an after school practice will be assigned to an after school study hall to be supervised by the Athletic Director and teaching assistants. Practice will not begin until the regular school dismissal time.
As many of you are aware, the poor economy is affecting our schools and the services we can provide for our students. One way Lexington School District Two is looking to cut costs across the district is through the help and assistance of school volunteers.
